Realtor.com weekly housing data points to continued competitiveness in the market at the start of 2022 despite rising interest rates and double- digit home listing price growth. Homes are still spending over a week less on the market compared to a year ago and the gap isn’t showing any signs of shrinking.
As homebuyers grapple with a challenging seller’s market, so far, fewer sellers are listing homes for sale compared to this time last year as sellers find themselves in the same crunch as buyers finding their next home if they sell their current home.
With fewer homes listed for sale so far in 2022, buyer interest again outpaced the number of homes for sale.
